Class Notes
2005, Greg W. Liebl - has been named a shareholder with the Nilles, Ilvedson, Plambeck and Selbo law firm in Fargo. Liebl graduated from Concordia College and the University of North Dakota School of Law prior to joining the Nilles firm in 2005. He is licensed in North Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. His primary area of practice is family law, and he is also a North Dakota Special Assistant Attorney General representing Workforce Safety and Insurance.
2011, Brianna J. McAleer - has joined GivingPoint in Fargo as director of foundation management. She previously served as associate director of annual giving at Jamestown (N.D.) College.
2011, Brandon Pittenger - is the Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of the Pacific Athletics Department in Stockton, CA. He is responsible to ensure all aspects of compliance with Pacific, NCAA, and Big West rules, including eligibility, financial aid, recruiting, extra benefits and other regulations.
1990, Jon Backes - received the Minot State University Alumni Association’s Golden Award. He earned his undergraduate degree from Minot State University in 1984. He and his wife, Karla, live in Minot.
1964, R. Jon Fitzner - has announced his retirement and resignation of his law firm effective August 18, 2011. He has served as Valley City, ND city attorney since the early 1970's.
1998, Kelly Mitchell - has been appointed Executive Director of the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission
2010, Amanda Juelson - has joined the Hillsboro, N.D., office of the Ohnstad Twichell Law Firm as an associate attorney.
2002, Angela Summers - has been hired by e4 Brokerage, 4733 Amber Valley Parkway, Fargo, as assistant vice president, long-term care. She previously worked for six years as an assistant vice president with Partners Advantage Insurance Services.
2007, Neil Nelson - In November, Neil Nelson won election to become the Pope County Attorney. Neil began a 4 year term of service in January. In addition to his work as the Pope County Attorney, Neil practices in the areas of family law, real estate, business entities, collections, and estate planning as a partner at the Obenland and Roth Law Firm.
1971, William Hill - The longtime federal bankruptcy judge in North Dakota is retiring. The Forum newspaper reported that Judge William Hill of Fargo will step down in late August, after nearly three decades of service. He was appointed in 1983. Before that, Hill was a part-time U.S. magistrate in the state and served as one of six judges on the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the 8th Circuit. For many years, Hill also served as a visiting judge, assisting the bankruptcy courts in Maryland, south Florida, Colorado and Iowa.

1991, Cynthia Feland - The Investiture for new South Central Distict Judge Cynthia Feland was held at the Burleigh County Courthouse in Bismarck on December 30, 2010.
1996, James Hovey - The Investiture for new Southeast Distict Judge James Hovey was held at the Eddy County Courthouse in New Rockford on December 19, 2010.
