Robert E. Kleve, Class of 1955

GRAND FORKS — Robert E. Kleve, 82, Grand Forks, died Oct. 11, 2011, at home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Robert Elick Kleve was born in McClusky on Aug. 17, 1929, to Elick Oliver Kleve and Dorothy (Ployhar) Kleve. He graduated from high school in Bismarck. He graduated from the University of North Dakota and was active in ROTC. He served as an OSI officer in the U.S. Air Force from June 20, 1951, until he was discharged on June 19, 1953. He later graduated from UND School of Law. Robert became a member of the North Dakota Bar on July 15, 1955, and on Aug. 5, 1959, he was registered as an attorney with the United States Patent Office.
He married Maria "Kay" Snyder on March 4, 1961, at Hyattsville, Md. They later separated.
He enjoyed pheasant hunting and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of Sons of Norway in Grand Forks and various civic and professional organizations.
He is survived by his children, Pauline (Tim) Graf, Davenport, Iowa, Mary (Mark) Jones, Wooster, Ohio, and Robert Kleve, Farmington, Mich.; two grandchildren, Jack Jones and Callie Jones; a sister, Donna Murry, Bismarck; and his cousins, Dot and Milton From, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
