North Dakota's new Southwest District Court Judge Dann Greenwood stood, along with his wife, Deb, during flag retirement ceremonies at Greenwood's investiture program Thursday afternoon at the Stark County Courthouse. Following his victory in November's election, Greenwood was sworn in by Chief Justice Gerald W. VandeWalle of the North Dakota Supreme Court and was presented his judge's robe by his son, Jay Greenwood, and a gavel with his name inscribed by ND State Bar Association President Gail Hagerty. "I'm certainly looking forward to the challenge of being a judge," Greenwood, previously a private practice lawyer, said during his remarks. "I come to this position with no agenda. It will be my intention to try matters impartially and imply the law to the facts, regardless of whether or not I agree with that law." Close to 100 community members attended the event. Greenwood, who officially started this week, will earn a salary of $126,000 and succeeds former Judge Patrick Weir.
