Kendra Huard Fershee publishes article on Email in Legal Practice Published in University of Maryland Law Review-Endnotes
As
sistant Professor
Kendra Huard Fershee
has recently published a piece in University of Maryland Law Review – Endnotes about writing e-mail professionally entitled
The New Legal Writing: The Importance of Teaching Law Students How to Use E-mail Professionally
.
The piece discusses the rise of electronic communication in legal practice and argues that it is necessary for legal educators to teach students how to write e-mail in a professional context because most people learn to use e-mail in an informal context. Electronic communication has firmly (and quickly) taken hold in legal practice and may even be replacing the classic memo format and appears to be, in some form or another, here to stay. This is why it is all the more imperative that anyone using e-mail in legal practice should learn how to utilize the medium clearly, carefully, and professionally.
