Formal Dedication of Law School Building Set for Friday, October 9, 2015
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony highlights weekend of Law School Homecoming Activities
University of North Dakota President Robert Kelley and UND School of Law Dean Kathryn Rand will host a formal dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the Law School building addition and renovation. The ceremony will be held outside the new north-facing entrance of the law school.
“We are so excited to celebrate the completion of our building project,” said Rand. “The goal of the building project for the School of Law was to enhance the educational experience of our students. After starting the academic year in the new and improved law building, we immediately realized the positive impact this addition and renovation has had on our entire law school community.”
In May of 2014, the School of Law faculty, staff and students packed up and moved out of the building so the project could begin. Fifteen months later the doors reopened revealing a dramatically different UND School of Law. The faculty and staff welcomed the Class of 2018 in the new building on August 18 for orientation activities and kicked-off the fall semester with all classes back in the building on Monday, August 24.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. The UND campus, Grand Forks community, alumni and friends are encouraged to celebrate this special occasion. A reception immediately following the ceremony will be held inside the law building and will include law student guided tours of the facility.
The dedication and ribbon cutting highlight a variety of Homecoming activities surrounding the Grand Opening Weekend celebration for the School of Law. Events include a reception honoring retired affiliated faculty member John Foster, a CLE education program for attorneys, watching the Homecoming parade with hot cocoa on the Law School lawn and an all-class reunion, featuring the UND Law Class of 1965, with brunch and tours on Saturday. Visit the Grand Opening Weekend webpage for a detailed list of activities.
