Laurie McHenry Receives Meritorious Service Award
Laurie McHenry, Head of Technical Services at the Thormodsgard Law Library, has received a University of North Dakota Meritorious Service Award. The awards were presented by UND President Mark Kennedy and Senior Human Resource Manager Joy Johnson to ten UND staff members at the Staff Recognition Ceremony held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in the Memorial Union Ballroom.
Meritorious Service Awards are given to UND staff who provide valuable contributions to their departments above and beyond their core job descriptions and who exhibit dedication to the mission and values of the University. Laurie McHenry has all of these qualities and more. As her nomination stated:
Laurie is a true credit to UND. She is an exemplary employee - unfailingly honest, punctual, and detail-oriented. She has been active on Staff Senate, recently presented at the North Dakota Library Association annual conference, and represents the university and state at the national level by serving as the NDLA Chapter Councilor for the American Library Association. She maintains excellent relationships with co-workers, law library users, university staff, and librarians throughout the state.
The nomination further noted that Laurie regularly goes above and beyond in her job duties. She was promoted to Head of Technical Services last year in recognition of the tremendous contributions she makes in leading the technical services work of the law library. She also regularly and cheerfully takes on work outside of her main job description, such as creating beautiful marketing displays and training to provide back-up to the Law Library’s Computer Services and Reference employees.
Award recipients were chosen from nominations submitted to the Human Resources Department from departments across campus. They received a certificate as well as a $1,000 cash prize in recognition of their exemplary service. The Law School is thrilled that the University recognized Laurie’s hard work and congratulates her on yet another stellar accomplishment!
