Law Women's Caucus presents "Balancing the Scales" featuring attorney and filmmaker Sharon Rowen

The UND Law Women's Caucus is pleased to host an evening with lawyer and filmmaker Sharon Rowen on February 26, 2018 at the Gorecki Alumni Center on the UND campus. The event would especially appeal to all law students, faculty, local judges, attorneys and members of the Greater Grand Forks County Bar Association, but the general public is also encouraged to attend this free event.

The schedule is as follows:

5:30 p.m. - Social Reception
6:00 p.m. - Screening of Balancing the Scales which will be followed by a Q&A with Sharon Rowen

***IMAGE REMOVED***Sharon is a trial lawyer and filmmaker based in Atlanta. Her documentary, Balancing the Scales, tells the story of women lawyers in America. It introduces female attorneys across generations who struggled against and continue to face societal obstacles. The film has been broadcast nationwide on public television. In addition, Sharon screens the film for audiences across the country and has become a recognized speaker and consultant on gender equality. She addresses law firms, corporate legal departments, national bar associations, and women's organizations on diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

She received her B.A. from Emory University and her J.D. from Columbia Southern College of Law. She is a founding partner of Rowen & Klonoski, a law firm based in Atlanta.

Balancing The Scales Documentary: Based on interviews conducted over two decades, Balancing the Scales is an insightful look at the story of women lawyers in America. Women tell their own remarkable and often hilarious stories, from pioneers who paved the way to today’s law students, who don’t yet understand the difficulties they will face in the workplace. Finally, the film explains why having women in top positions is good for both society and for firms’ bottom lines.
