UND Law seeks volunteers to serve as witnesses for the regional trial competition
For the first time in its history, the University of North Dakota School of Law, together
with the State Bar Association of North Dakota, will host the regional rounds of the
National Trial Competition. The National Trial Competition is co-sponsored by the
American College of Trial Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association and is considered
the most prestigious trial competition in the nation. Each year, the competition attracts
over 140 law schools and over 1,000 law students. The regional rounds include 24 teams
from law schools in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota,
and Wisconsin.
The competition will run from Friday evening, February 9, 2018, through Sunday afternoon,
February 11, 2018, at the Cass County Courthouse in Fargo. We are currently seeking
volunteers to serve as witnesses during the preliminary rounds of the competition.
The time commitment for witnesses is four hours (plus travel time), and the preparation
to serve as a witness is minimal (one to two hours). Here are the exact dates and
times we need volunteers for:
(1) Friday, February 9, 2018: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
(2) Saturday, February 10, 2018: 8:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
