The North Dakota Law Review encourages all incoming second and third year students to participate in law review. Membership in the North Dakota Law Review is open to all second and third year students. Membership is determined by a write-on competition intended to measure students' legal reasoning, writing, and citation skills. Write-on materials are distributed following spring semester final exams. After candidates have submitted their write-on exercises, the law review board of editors will evaluate and extend offers of membership.
A member of law review can expect a challenging and rewarding experience. New members are relied on to play a critical role in the publishing of the law review. Additionally, members will be required to complete a significant writing project in each of the fall and spring semesters. Second year members that successfully fulfill their obligations are eligible for positions on the board of editors.
The North Dakota Law Review will be hosting a virtual information session on Wednesday, April 21st at 12:10 p.m. The information session will provide an overview as to the responsibilities of a Member of Law Review, the Write-On process, and Board of Editor eligibility after a successful year of membership. You are not required to attend the information session in order to participate in the Write-On, but it will be helpful for those of you with any questions.
