Orientation Information: August 10, 2021
I have had lots of questions about Convocation & Pinning Ceremony and Orientation Week so I wanted to touch base before the weekly email. I’ve attached the schedule again. Though some of this could change before August 15th, I wanted to give information that I’m aware of at this time.
Sunday, August 15th – Convocation & Pinning Ceremony
This is held at the Chester Fritz Auditorium (3475 University Ave Stop 9028, Grand Forks, ND) starting at 5:00 p.m. We do ask for students to check-in prior to the event so plan to check-in any time from 4:15-4:45 p.m. Typically the event lasts about an hour and a half. You are able to invite and family or special guest to this event. Dress is professional.
- What will take place at the convocation and pinning ceremony?
Our School of Law Dean, Michael McGinniss, and Assistant Dean of Student Services, Brad Parrish, Andrew Armacost, President of UND, and a guest speaker will play major roles in the evening. During the ceremony, your names will be announced and each student will cross the stage, receive a UND Law padfolio and take a photo at a designated location on stage with Dean McGinniss and President Armacost. A UND School of Law Class of 2024 pin will be placed inside your zipped padfolio. It will not be pinned on you at the event. After the event, you will be free to go.
Parking – available in the Chester Fritz Auditorium parking lot. No permits are required for this event.
Monday, August 16th – 19th – Orientation sessions
These will be held at the School of Law (unless otherwise noted on the schedule). Dress is business casual. Parking permits will be required for all campus parking lots. At this time, the ramp is closed so if you purchased a ramp pass and it still is not accessible, please use the other lots noted by the Red Stars. The Red Star lots are all “S” lots.
There is a lot of construction happening around the law building and on Columbia Ave. At this time, I’m not sure of the construction timelines so it may still impact your access to different streets, getting to the campus, etc. Please allow for additional time if you are not familiar with the area and for finding adequate parking.
Let me know if you have any questions.
