Class of 2023, Week 1
Welcome UND Law Class of 2023!
This will be the first of many emails you will receive from the Office of Student
Life as we get closer to your first day of law school in August. These emails will
touch on various items that you should be thinking of as you prepare for
the fall. Topics such as housing, financial aid, class registration/schedule, parking
and textbooks will all be covered. Please expect weekly emails from our office and
keep us informed if your email address changes. If there is a topic
that you would like more information on, let me know so it can be addressed in one
of the weekly emails.
As a reminder, we are hosting our Virtual UND Law 2020 Day this Saturday, April 4th.
The law student panel will begin at 1:00 PM (CST) with the plan to end around 2:15
PM and the faculty panel will begin approximately 2:30 PM
(CST). Feel free to take a short break between panels. During these zoom events, panelists
will answer questions, either posed in last week’s survey, or questions any attendee
posts in the chat feature. You can pose the questions
to everyone or privately to me (Aleisha Lokken), as I will ask all questions to the
panelists. When you log into the zoom events, we ask that you keep microphones muted
and your cameras off (they should be automatically turned
off when you join each event). Having microphones and cameras off will help with internet
bandwidth, reduce excess noise, and allow any attendees to remain anonymous if they
wish. When you enter the zoom events, you
can choose to indicate your full name, first name, initials, or choose to be anonymous.
At this time, we have decided to not record the virtual events to protect the privacy
of all attendees. If this changes, you will be notified before or at the time of entering
the zoom event. You can choose to opt out if you do not want to attend any recorded
event.

The Office of Student Life staff are available to answer any questions you may have, and as soon it is safe to do so, we hope that everyone gets the opportunity to visit us at the law building prior to the start of classes this fall.
Working alongside me in the Office of Student Life are:
Laureen Johnson, Admissions and Records Officer
Sheri Evans, Administrative Assistant
Brad Parrish, Assistant Dean of Student Services
Pam Shea, Director of Student Life
Renee Nielsen, Director of Career Development
As you plan your August arrival to Grand Forks, please keep in mind that the UND School
of Law Orientation Program, which was mentioned in your welcome letter from Assistant
Dean Parrish, is a required group of
events. The orientation schedule and details are still being planned but we will share
the information as soon as it’s available. Keep in mind, the first day of orientation
is the evening of Sunday, August, 16, 2020, with our UND Law
Pinning Ceremony.
We hope you stay safe and healthy! For those who plan to attend Saturday, we look forward to you joining us. For those who are unable to attend, we can’t wait to see you in August!!
Kindest regards,
Aleisha
