The School of Law is proud to partner with the UND Center for Innovation to offer legal assistance for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profits.
Who We Are
The UND School of Law Business & Non-Profit Law Clinic consists of second and third-year law students working with experienced attorneys to provide complimentary legal assistance to small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profits who cannot otherwise afford legal services.
Services Offered
- Contract drafting
- Explanation of legal rules
- Assistance with legal structure selection
- Diverse legal projects approved by clinical instructors
While our services are free, court filling fees and other expenses are the responsibility of the individual and/or business.
Who is Eligible for Assistance?
- Small businesses and entrepreneurs who cannot afford a lawyer.
- Special consideration will be given to businesses owned by underrepresented groups.
- Non-profit organizations helping the community.
Application Process
- Spots are limited.
- You may be put on a wait list.
- Admittance to the wait list does not guarantee legal assistance.
- Information regarding the determination and timeline of your project will be provided.
- If your project cannot be accepted, effort will be made to provide referrals.
Prerequisites
- Second- or third-year UND School of Law student.
- Completion of or currently enrolled in Business Associations.
Application Process
- Students should submit a letter of interest, resume, and academic transcript to Professor Paul Traynor for consideration.
Selection
- Number of students selected is based on the number of applicants received and amount of work requested.
