The Bar Exam & Beyond
Graduates of UND School of Law have resources and services available to assist them with preparing for the Bar Exam and beginning their legal career.
Receiving Your Diploma or Transcript
A diploma folder is presented to each graduate during the commencement ceremony. Official diplomas will be mailed approximately eight weeks after commencement to your diploma mailing address as indicated on Campus Connection. Please update your diploma mailing address in your graduation application within 10 days prior to graduation.
It will take approximately eight weeks to for the University of North Dakota to receive verification of your degree from the School of Law, record this information on your permanent record, and prepare your diploma for mailing. If you need a transcript reflecting your earned degree, you may request a transcript be sent. Please mark "hold for degree" on your order form if your degree hasn't already been posted. If you need assistance, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 701.777.2711.
The University of North Dakota reserves the right to deny the release of a student's diploma if that student has any outstanding accounts receivable balances. Questions can be directed to One-Stop Student Services at 701.777.3911.
Bar Exam
As part of the Academic Success and Bar Passage program, we provide support, resources, and services to help you succeed at the Bar Exam.
- Reserve a study space at the law school!
- Be on the lookout for UND Bar Exam Success Workshops.
- Director Behrens sends out weekly bar exam emails. These emails provide information about bar exam workshops, study tips, and more. If you're not receiving these emails, please contact her at elizabeth.d.behrens@UND.edu
- Make appointments with Director Elizabeth Behrens to provide feedback on your writing, discuss exam taking strategy, and discuss any other bar related questions you may have throughout your preparation.
- If you are working while you study for the bar exam, make sure you are in compliance
with all of the rules in your jurisdiction.
- In North Dakota, students must complete a Law School Graduate Temporary Practice form. More information can be found here.
- The Uniform Bar Exam is hosted on the last Tuesday and Wednesday each February and July.

- Minnesota
- Applicants who have submitted an application to Minnesota within the last two years may be eligible to submit the abbreviated Repeat Application. You must be able to submit the Repeat Application within two years of the previous application submission date.
- If you are a repeat applicant who submitted your application more than two years ago, you do not qualify to complete the repeat application and must complete the full application.
- As a repeat applicant, certain documentation does not need to be resubmitted.” For more information, please visit the Minnesota State Board of Law Examiners website and select question two.

- If possible, request a copy of your bar exam to review.
- If applicable, ask for your bar preparation course to be reopened.
